Ruapehu to ban engine brake use
A ban on the use of engine brakes in Ruapehu urban areas took another step when the Ruapehu District Council resolved that a bylaw controlling their use be prepared. The council is likely to follow the Rotorua example which bans the use of "Jacobs Engine Brake" type brakes. The use of such brakes by heavy vehicles has annoyed several urban residents.
