Pub charity money for youngsters
Two thousand dollars is a lot of money in anyone's hook, and the two Waiouru kindergartens are now both that much richer. Pub Charity, sponsored by Abe and Roanne Hepi of the Oasis Hotel and Motels in Waiouru, means Weir Terrace and Keningston Kindergartens both have $2000 extra in their coffers and the Waiouru Primary School a sizeable $2450 extra. Mr and Mrs Hepi are pictured with Keningston Kindergarten president Major George Rooks, Weir Terrace treasurer Sue Foster and Waiouru Primary School deputy principal Marty Hantz. Mr Hantz said the $2450 for the school has already been spent purchasing clear files for cumulative and academic progress records, while Weir Terrace kindergarten will use their money to complete a five-year verandah project. Keningston Kindergarten will use its money to finalise outdoor developments. Pub Charity funds for Waiouru come from profits out of the Oasis Hotel gambling machines, Mrs Hepi said.
