Ohakune Squash

Mens E Grade team beat Hawera in Wanganui/ Manawatu playoff. Having won the division five of the Central Districts Interclub earlier in the year, the team played off against the winning team from the Manawatu to find the overall mens E2 winner. Greg Tuthill played first for a 3-0 win. Colin Budge followed with a 3-1 loss to level the score. Angus Malcolm then played and had a 3-2 loss. The remaining two then had to win. Shane Thrupp played first and a 3-2 win levelled the match. Daniel Forster had a 3-0 win to give Ohakune the 3-2 team win and their

first regional victory. F-Grade Wpmen off to Squash Nationals The Ohakune F Grade womens team head off to Nationals in Hastings tomorrow to represent the Wanganui/Manawatu/ Ruapehu Region. First up they meet Clutha on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday morning they play Fraser Park. Friday afternoon they play top seeded Waerenga-a-Hika. Depending on where they end up in their pool will determine who they play on Saturdays final games. Coach/Manager John Laurensonis very confident that the team will do exceedingly well. Team members have been training daily for some time now and all are playing well above their current gradings. Hesaidtheteam's strength is its depth. Team members are: Francis Wharry, Ali Hamlin, Sarah Lind, Jenny Murdie, Katrina Marsh. Womens D Grade team. Having won the Ruapehu Zone interclub earlier in the year the Ohakune womens team had to play Tech College Old Boys club from Wanganui/Manawatu/ Ruapehu regional winner. In their first game against TCOB results were: Karen Cranston, 3-2 win; Dawn Smith, 3-1 win;ErinWorkman, 3-0 win; Mary Cranston, 30-1 loss; Karen Hughes, 3-1 loss. Giving Ohakune a 3-2 win. On the following day against Opunake: Karen Cranston, 3-0 loss; Dawn Smith, 3-2 loss; Erin Workman, 3-0 win; Mary Cranston, 3-0 loss; Karen Hughes, 3-2 loss. Giving Opunake the win 4-1 and the overall champion D grade womens interclub | team for Wanganui/Mana1 watu/Ruapehu.
