Ohakune Pony Club
The new season is away to a good start: members participated in the Waimarino Club Quiz on 13 Sep-
tember, and on 22 September Angela Fraser, Hone Brausch, Natasha Nicholls, Anna Pointon and Connie Cooper represented the branch at the King Country Quiz, coming fourth. One unmounted rally was held on 14 September and the first mounted one on 2 1 September was in brilliant weather and had good turn out. A full programme of rallies and events is planned and more members are always welcome. As a new venture the club is holding an open day in Waiouru on Saturday 19 October to show local children what Pony Club has to offer. Enquiries to J Newton, phone 06-387-5080. The second holiday rally will be on Thursday 3 October at Warren's Farm as usual and interested Ohakune children are welcome to come along, but are asked to contact Mrs Cooper 06-385-8466 beforehand in case of cancellations. AtTuesday night' s meeting final arrangements were made for the purchase of a new shed and it is hoped it will be in place by the end of October. A grand opening is planned for November with a sausage sizzle either during the gymkhana
day or combined rally day - a fitting celebration to the club's 20th Birthday. A "sweet" fund-raising venture selling raspberry or chocolate lamingtons is underway with pre-orders to be in by 1 4 October. They will be available a week later. Orders can be placed with any Ohakune Pony Club member. Funds raised will ensure the shed is debt free.
