Young people wandering late at night concerns police
Waimarino • Police are concerned about young people wandering around without parental supervision late at night and in the early hours of the morning. During the week police took two 14-year-old boys home after they were found wandering around the Junction area at 1am. The following night the same boys were found out again at 2am. • There were three men and one woman arrested during the week. All were local people. The arrests arose from offences of possession of instruments for drug use, assault, trespass and shop-lifting. • A 1 6-year-old youth has been reported for driving with excess breath alcohol. • A metal dog kennel and run was reported stolen from Ruapehu Faim Supplies in Raetihi. • A chalet in Duncan Street, Raetihi was reported burgled overnight last Monday. _ • There have also been several reports of skis and snowboards being stolen. This is occurring either while they are left outside skifield cafes or on parked vehicles. Several thefts from cars were reported. • On Sunday morning between 7am and 1 Oam a metallic grey Mitsubishi V 3000 was broken into outside an address in Arawa Street. The offenders smashed a quarterlight window and took two black handbags and a multi-coloured woollen j acket. The car was then started and driven around town before being returned to the same position. It was seen with two persons in it during this time. Police would like to hear from anyone who can provide information as to who these people were. Waiouru • There was one arrest of a male for assaulting his female partner. There was one further domestic incident attended by the police with no arrest made. • A burglary to a house on SH49 was reported where a Harley Davidson motorcycle, registration number 37 SLT , was stolen. • There was also a burglary reported at an address in Carr Crescent where a chicken roll and set of car keys were stolen. • Police are following leads to locate a vehicle which left a local service station without the driver paying for petrol put into it. Horses on Desert Road • There were two separate incidents of Kaimanawa horses getting within close proximity of the Desert Road. On each occasion army personnel moved them back from the road.
