This didn't deter some people though, it was a case of nailing the cat down so it wouldn't blow away and then off to bridge. Results for Wednesday 18 September Anyone who sat NorthSouth on Wednesday night would have thought it was Christmas, as most of the hands favoured that direction However, as with Christmas, some people get that much handed to them they don' t kno w what to do with it all and this was the case with some people on Wednesday night. Pauline Le Noel and Bob Tumataroa missed out on two slam-bids but made up for it by making game contracts elsewhere and consequently took first place with 60% (68.12) ahead of Gordon and Jenny Mottram in second with 53.13% (49.38) and Brian Barlev and George Drayton on 43.08% (41.88) in third. For those sitting East-West it was a case of making the most of a bad deal and this is exactly what Doug and Tephany Bennett did. They scored 63.80% (61.25) to take first place East-West while second place went to Elaine Goldfinch and Glenda Whale who scored 57.02% (46.88). In third place with a score of 55.25% (53.75) were Jim Cranston and Rita Kaiwhare.
