Affordable prawn fun for the family
"Having fun and acquiring an education at the same time is what it's all about for the family at Prawn Park," says its marketing manager, Nancy van der Laan. The intriguing 25 minute farm tour allows visitors first-hand viewing and understanding of the farming techniques necessary to grow tropical prawns in a geothermal environment. The tour can be complimented with either a quick snack or the full menu
at the riverside restaurant, The Prawn Works Bar and Grill. Nancy says lot of people think prawns vare expensive but the Prawn Works Bar and Grill offer inexpensive options like prawn snacks and prawn burgers. "The cost of a child to go on tour followed by a mini burger and wedges is $6.00 in total, which is equivalent if not cheaper than a meal at McDonalds or Georgie Pie," said Miss van der Laan. "We have a unique New Zealand business right on Taupo' s doorstep that is the only one of its kind in the world and we would encourage locals to come and see what its all about." There is plenty of space for the kids to run around and an air hockey machine indoors provides extra fun. Brightly coloured soft toy prawns adorn the walls along with prawn platters and T-shirts if you want to purchase a memory of your Prawn Park experience.
