Maths success
Raetihi school pupils entered the Mathex competition held in Wanganui recently and for their efforts, attained some pleasing results: Year 6 (standard 4) were first, Year 5 (standard 3) were third and Year 8 (Form 2) were piped at the post for third place. Grant Fountain, principal, said he was very pleased with the school' s effort, particularly as there were 65 teams competing from throughout the Wanganui region. "It shows quite clearly that our school pupils perform as well as any of the other more high profile schools," he said.
Mrs Mcgregor, teacher was thanked for the time that she put into organising the teams. Many parents provided transport to Wanganui which Mr Fountain said "is always appreciated". Other News: Nicola Leary won thecentennial scholarship from Wanganui Girls College which she will attend from next year. The school is to have a new deputy principal commencing next term. She is Audrie McKenzie who comes to the schpol from Taupo Intermediate.
