Northern U21's win

Northern Wanganui Rugby Colts took out the U21 triseries on Saturday by beating Wanganui Metro Colts 106 at Spriggens Park in at game called off with 20 minutes still remaining after a Metro player was sent off for punching. Coaches of both sides were disappointed with the referee as this was the final trial for the Wanganui squad. Scores: Northern; T Paine try; E Hekenui penalty, conversion. Metro; J Shaw two penalties. The two earlier games played saw Rangitikei beat Metro at Marton 26-21 in a good even game. The other game saw Northern beat Rangitikei by an amazing 9 1 -7 at Raetihi with 16 trips being scored. The following players were selected to represent Wanganui against Counties Colts on 21 September and to train at Raetihi on 14 September at 2.00pm: P Tehuna, W Xatene, S Nansen, B Rona, S Nevard, H Gibson, W Reweti, D Waiho, A Nepia, B Lama, J Shaw, R McKenzie (Metro), G Edwards, S McBeth (Rangitikei), V Pickery, I Rowe, P Abernethy, B Horton, T Paine, L Pirere, E Hekenui, H Chase, K Araitanga, H Campus, T Tumata, J Metekingi (Northern).
