Spring fun to go
This year's Ohakune Spring Festival at Turoa Ski Resort will go ahead despite periodic volcanic interruptions from Mount Ruapehu. The festival promises to be the fun event of the year with all kinds of exciting activities happening both at Turoa and down in Ohakune township. "Turoa has a ball of fun wound up and ready for release this coming weekend," said promotions co-ordinator for Turoa, Brett Sheridan, "with events for the whole family such as snowrafting on the slopes, Amarula horizontal bungy jumping and the kids Yeti treasure hunt." The on-mountain events will coincide with Ohakune's annual Carrot Festival featuring street parades, performers and live acts. "This will be a party to remember, with fun for everyone both on and off the mountain," said Mr Sheridan. The Ohakune Spring Festival begins on Thursday with the annual National Firefighters Ski Camps and carries on through to Sunday with some great entertainment and competition for everyone.
