□ Last Wednesday a local man was arrested for theft of a Ford Laser car, assaulting a female and possession of cannabis for supply. □ In the early hours of Sunday morning another local male was arrested for excess breath alcohol, resisting arrest, escaping custody and possession of an offensive weapon. □ A vagrant man hanging around town resulted in several complaints being made to the police. No offences were committed by
this man but he was assisted out of town by police officers. □ A 1 6-year old has been reported for possession of a knife in the public place. □ A search warrant was executed in Raetihi and stolen car seized. □ There was a burglary of a house in Railway Row, Ohakune reported Friday evening and also a burglary to a house in Duncan Street, Raetihi Saturday evening. □ There were at least seven reported thefts from vehicles. All but one occurred in the Junction area,
mainly Saturday night. The other occurred in the number two car park at Turoa. Several of these vehicles were entered as a result of the offenders smashing windows. There was also an attempted theft of a Triumph Toledo parked on Tyne Street. □ Also reported was the theft of an Alpine Outbreak 26 inch mountain bike from the Ohakune Court Motel. □ Over the weekend, police conducted several drink-driving checkpoints. About 130 vehicles were stopped resulting in six people being breath tested with two of these resulting in prosecution. Q The speed camera was active in the area and numerous tickets were issued.
