The aim is to develop crime prevention initiatives and programmes. Significant issues for the Waimarino Strategic Action Plan: • Active Maori involvement in the plan is crucial, in keeping with the Memorandum of Understanding between the sponsor of the programme CPU, Ruapehu District Council, and the hapu and iwi of the district. • Appropriate Maori representation of the Safer Community Council • Consultation with tangata whenua on matters affecting them.
