Milk cartons are go!

Ohakune Primary School was host to many strange and wonderful vehicles some time ago, when Room 14 challenged all the other senior classes to a milk carton trolley day. There were classes for decorated trolleys and action events. A lot of thought was put into the desigil of the trolleys. They were restricted by the type of axle used but most other aspects were thoroughly studied. Experiments using different weights, axle widths and wheel sizes were common. Without realising it the children were exploring many aspects of the new technology curriculum which encourages experimentation and evaluation in the design process, said their teacher. More importantly, it was great fun. Many are already planning for another event next year. Results: Best big rig; 1st Shantal Hemara and Nicola Bradley (Dairy Express),
