Businesswomen's award date extended
Theclosing date for entries for the CLEAR SelfEmployed Woman of the Year Award has been extended. Ruapehu Women Into Self Employment (WISE) representative Elizabeth Mortland said local women who were considering entering included Trish Smart — owner of Virtuosity gift shop, Marian Cleaver — sheep and beef farmer and Sale McCrindle — owner of drapery stores in T aihape and Hunterville. Prizes up for grabs in the national competition have been boosted with the inclusion of an Ansett Unwinder Weekend worth
$1400 and $1000 worth of business training from management consultants 'Tall Poppies". "The biggest barriers to women thinking of entering is lack of self-confi-dence, they either think they aren't good enough or it's too hard to enter," said national co-ordination Beverley Main. "On the contrary, the reason there
are 25 local awards is so that women in a variety of businesses can get recognised for their achievements." Ruapehu women will be judged in early September with the winner travelling to Wellington on 1 October for the national awards. For more information phone Elizabeth Mortland, 388-0109.
