Power failure

The power cut in Ohakune on Sunday night, 28 July, was caused by the failure of an underground high tension cable in Mangawhero-Terrace. Almost the whole of the town was blacked out with power restored to most areas by 9.00pm, some by 2am and some the next moming. The failure led to major damage to a transfprrner which had to be replaced. King Country Energy apologised for the break-down.
