Fire appeal kicks off
The Raetihi Cosmopolitan Club was the venue last week for the first Fire Trust Appeal fund raiser event. Mark Delacy, singer-comedian from Paekakariki, captured a small but appreciative audience with his variety of songs. From Irish dittys, poetic wit to good all-round ballad singing. Judging by the response of the audience his comedy left people laughing "fit to bust". The evenings show included Tommy Waara's band "Heart to Heart", who gave of their time voluntarily.
Organisers were disappointed to see so few from Raetihi attending the function, aside from a group of visitors from Ohakune, Taranaki andNationalPark. Co-ordinator Amiria Teki thanked all those who did help and those who brought a pot luck dish. Special thanks went to the staff and to Christ and Greg Windle for the use of their bain-marie and their family ' s support. Funds raised totalled $25 1 . Ideas or suggestions are welcome for further fundraising efforts, contact Chris Windle 06-385-4337.
