Self-employed women's group formed
The first meeting of the new Wise Women Net work will be held next Monday at the REAP Centre in Taihape. The Wise Women Network was established in 1992 by Beverley Main on behalf of the Lower Hutt Business Advisory Service for women in self employment (hence "WISE"). There are now in excess of 20 networks with a membership pushing 6000 women throughout New Zealand, meeting monthly.
The informal meetings include networking, socialising, trading, mentoring and relaxing, aiming to provide opportunities for like minded women to get together to encourage and learn from one another. Guest speakers. for the first Taihape meeting will be Beverley Main, the founder of WISE Women, Claire Harding, manager of the Manawatu Resource Centre and Kevin Gibbard, Palmerston North ANZ district manager.
