Waimarino pig-hunting

At the Queens Birthday hunt, sponsored by Ruapehu Hotel, there were six boars weighed in: Heaviest pig - 1st Scott Wicken'sparty, 188kg, 2nd and 3rd Derek Matoe's party ; Average pig - 1 st and 3rd Derek Matoe's party, 2nd Mike Craig's party. Other results were: Best tusks - 1st Mike Craig, 2nd Jason Haitana; Children' s section - possum 1st Nick McNie, 2nd Deb Preater, 3rd Kerryanne Preater; Rabbit 1st Kerryanne Preater, 2nd Deb Preater,

3rd Nick McNie; Eel 1st and 3rd Deb Preater, 2nd Kerryanne Preater,. There were also spot prizes for those who didn't get a major prize. As no vehicles are allowed in Winstone' s Forest a special thanks went to the other parties who helped Scott get his pig out. All hunters are reminded to weigh their pigs at R Hawira's (senior) for the prize-giving at the end of the year. The next hunt will be a novelty one and hunters should contact Stu Willis for more information.
