Mountain sewerage scheme site shift possible

Uncertainty over the site of the Whakapapa Iwikau Sewage Treatment Plant site has led to the postponement of phy sical works until the 1997-98 year, Ruapehu District councillors heard last Friday. Objections to aspects of the scheme mean that there is uncertainty in the granting of a resource consent. It is intended that design and consent work will be done in the 1996-97 year. Councillors heard that it may be necessary, due to objections from Landcorp, to locate the plant in the Raurimu Block (to a site west of Discovery Lodge). This site could add $0.5 millioh to the cost.
