Waiouru tender decision expected Thursday
Waiouru Army Camp's 'facilities maintenance' contract is currently under review, with a final decision expected Thursday as to which company will be the preferred tenderer. The New Zealand Defence Forces tenders board is considering the recommendations regarding the preferred tenderer Thursday morning. While rumours are rife within Waiouru that Serco, the current operator, will
not be the preferred tenderer, such a decision is not "in concrete", a defence spokesperson who did not want to be named, said yesterday. The decision affects a large number of workers, with Serco responsible for all property maintenance in
the camp and housing area. Serco is the contracts company that was born out of the break-up of the old Ministry of Works. Despite calls to several defence people and Serco, no further information was available at the time the Bulletin went to print.
