Ohakune gardeners meet

The April meeting of the Ohakune Garden Club was preceded by the annual meeting with 15 members present. Peggy Frew thanked the office holders for their previous year's work. Nita Wilde and Kandy Barrett have stood down from their respective positions and the new officers elected were: president Lois McQuarrie; vice-president FranFrew; treasurerTrishaSmart. Maureen Warren has agreed to continue as secretary in the interim. Trevor and Noelene Reynolds reported on the Ci vic Pride awards and commented on the difficulty they had with street numbers or lack of them. The Club extended their thanks for the time and effort put into the judging. Fran Frew was awarded the cup for the most competition points for the 95/96 year. After the meeting closed, Dawn Donaldson demonstrated the art of autumn arrangements, using autumn leaves for the greatest effect. The next meeting is scheduled for tonight, Tuesday 28 May at Nita and Bruce Wilde's, the competition to be: flower of choice; shrub of choice; chrysanthemum; arrangement of waysi.de treasures.
