Christians out in force Home school group
visits Waimarino
A small home schooling group from Taranaki visited the Waimarino for a twoday trip last week. They are from Ngahinerangi Hapu - (subtribe) which is near Manaia. The children in the group were once part of a bilingual class from a local schooi near Manaia. However, due to lack of funds the bilingual class closed and the teacher
and parents of the children took the students out of schooi and now run a home schooi. The children have recently been working on two projects — one on the New Zealand military, its function and the study of ANZAC Day and its history. The second project was on the mountains of Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and
Ruapehu with their links to Taranaki. They also had an opportunity to rekindle relationships with families with which they are connected. Mo Te Whanau Kohanga Reo group welcomed the children, their teacher and Kaumatua. They visited the Waiouru Military Museum, the Conservation Department and Turoa Ski Resort.
