Interest in Ruapehu holidays high

New Zealand's largest tourism trade show, TRENZ, was held in Auckland last week, where over 400 international buyer companies came to New Zealand to determine which regions and attractions they would include in their tours and suggested itineraries. Ruapehu District Council marketing manager Bruce Rollinson said it was the district' s fourth year of attendance at the show and that every year knowledge of the area's attractions was increasing. The most imporant aspect has been the fostering of relationships developed at previous shows that are now providing business for the area. Mr Rollinson also said there is much work to be done should the region wish to take advantage of new emerging growth markets.

"We have the attractions, they just need to be fine tuned to meet these market needs," he said. A Ruapehu product manual of attractions, accommodation and their wholesale prices was provided to those companies with appointments scheduled with the council at the show. Mr Rollinson and the Ruapehu show has now moved on to the tourism and travel shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
