Ruapehu under 21's
Ruapehu under 21 rugby team wrapped up the Wanganui combined first round title on Saturday with a game to spare. ' Ruapehu beat Rangitikei 24/6 at Hunterville after only leading 5/3 at half-time. The game was played on a field that was very wet and muddy, slowing the Ruapehu backs down quite a bit. Ruapehu touched down four tries, two to right-winger Craig Pye and one each to left-winger Nick Blenkor and replacement first-five Chris Winter, with Chris and Mario converting one I each. Good games were played by Charles (Nails) Neil, Ian Rowe, Sam Dunkan and Tony Watts in the forwards and Nick Bunker, Kelly Arahanga and Lenoard Purere in the backs. Ruapehu now travel to T aihape on Saturday to play Utiku in the last of the first round games. A win will also give Ruapehu the Northern Wanganui Championship. Players are reminded that this week' s practice is at the W aiouru Gym and Swimming Pool at 6.30pm on Wednesday 22 May.
