$70,000 more for marketing
ECNZ's annual $70,000 sponsorship agreement with the Ruapehu District Council' s marketingunit will continue for the 1996/97 financial year, Ruapehu District Council' s chief executive, Cliff Houston and ECNZ's central generations manager Dennis Allan announced last week. The council and ECNZ entered into a three year contract in 1 993 to develop ECNZ' s involvement in promoting the natural resources in the Ruapehu District. Mr Houston said the council has provided ECNZ with a number of benefits in return for the sponsorship, including promotion at visitor centres and specific acknowledgment and involvement in the council' s marketing activities. "Since the establishment of our partnership with ECNZ the community has experienced a lift in the information standards in Taumarunui and Ohakune," said Mr Houston. "ECNZ's input into our marketing activities has also provided the council with new opportunities that otherwise would not be available." Mr Allan said the partnership has been very beneficial to both parties and it was obvious the entire Ruapehu District has benefited from increased marketing over the past three years and ECNZ is looking forward to maintaining a close working relationship with the council.
