Waimarino golf

Sunday 5 May saw a turnout of 40 enter the club stableford competition on a fine afternoon. Given the playing conditions, the scoring was lower than expected with the exception of one or two. Results: Ladies -Jenny Murdie was 1st with 40, Pat Mollroy 2nd on 36, Pania Mowat and Barbara Dempsey on 34 3rd =. Junior Men : Ray Brown on 37 1st, Brian Hays and John Mcllroy 2nd = on 36. Senior Men : John Hammond on 39 was 1st, Barry Drinkwater on 38 2nd, MichealLloyd,Terry Beraghty and Wayne Marsh on 36 shared 3rd. On Sunday 28 April Andrew Murdie, Sarah Lind, Jenny Murdie, Dwayne Marsh and Brian Hays travelled to Rangitikei Golf Club to enter the Silk and Kelly Cup 36 hole competition. For the 25+ handicap players an 18-hole stableford round was held with Jenny taking the honours convincingly with 48 pts. Sarah finished 1st in the Ladies 36 hole nett, and Dwayne finished 3rd in the Mens Junior 36 hole nett. All in all a very successful day for our club. A special thanks to Alan and Karen Murdie of New World Supermarket for the use of their van for transporting the juniors. A reminder that the course will be closed next weekend for the 72 hole Tournement. The draw will be published later. The Lucky number draw was A Barrett and was not struck and the Roarer's Mug went to Jenny.
