Waimarino rest home

# Many people today would not recall 'hospitals' prior to the welfare state. It occurs to me that the practice used in that period would assist the whole W aimarino community to build the much needed rest home. People donated money to 'endow' a cot or bed etc. This, often, was as a memorial to a departed loved one. 1 consider this a useful concept. It benefits the elderly of the area and leaves something useful for the next generation. Currently those needing rest home care must leave their environment, friends and family. They usually go to Taihape, Taumarunui or Wanganui. Loved ones often cannot drive and no public transport is available; friends cannot just 'drop in for a chat'. Help to keep the seniors in the area -every donation will assist; every endowment will speed the building. Donations and endowments are tax deductible. They can be arranged through, or left at, the offices of Harris, Harvey and Nash.
