Sport for kiwis at Waiouru school
Senior Department children at Waiouru Primary School were taken through Kiwisport last week by Sport W anganui instructors and students completing the Training Opportunity Course (Tops). Six activities were available including volleyball, soccer, parachute throwing and 'Kiwidex' — an activity that practices basics like two-footed jumping and landing (includes sack races). Tops course manager John Coffee said his students have come to Waiouru to participate in Exercise Nemesis with the Officer Cadet School, and were glad to have a chance to give something to the primary school. "Schools are pretty stressed resource wise. I'd hate to be a teacher nowadays," he said. Nemesis is a four day navigational exercise held every six months in the Waiouru training area. An update on how the Tops students went should be available next week.
