Top team fun raises $700 for brigade

Raetihi Fire Brigade' s 'Top Team' competition, held on Sunday at the Raetihi show grounds, was a hit with competitors and spectators. The event raised $700 for the brigade coffers. The novelty obstacle event was held in stormy, rather chilly weather, but this didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the competitors or their supporters. Teams competing each paid $20. The teams were, Images Hair Salon, Raetihi Four Square, Waimarino Pony Club, Waimarino Shears 1 and 2, McCarthys 1 and 2, Harris Harvey Nash, Ruapehu Development Rugby Squad, Parata Construction, Ohakune Fire Brigade, Wellington Cafe and Raetihi Fire Brigade. The event was the brain child of Donna McGrath and with support from Ken Summerhays, both brigade volunteers. The brigade would like to hold the event every year, possible in the summer. The money raised will go towards purchasing rescueequipment.Trevorfrom Ruapehu Hotel and Donna McGrath from Images donated the medals for all winners, and Ken Summerhays donated the cup. Winners were Waimarino Shears No 1; 2nd McCarthy Transport No 1; 3rd Parata Construction.
