Raetihi sale
Raetihi' s sheep sale held last week saw reasonable prices paid, compared with others from the Wanganui, Rangitikei Waimarino areas. Prices for 5 and 6-year-old ewes fetched from $25.70 up to $35 .00, 2/toothed ewes realised from a low $ 1 5 .00 up to $33.50. 2/toothed wether lambs fetched from $20.00 to $27.00. Ram lambs sold for $21.50, $25.50, $26.80 and $27.10. Some black faced lambs sold for $22.50 and $26.20, and $27.00 for S and J. Mersons from Orautoha. Some 4/toothed mixed aged ewes fetched $35.20. Prices for rams were quite low, with 5 polled Dorsetts fetching $25.50. Though prices were a little on the low side and although some sheep were passed in, auctioneers at the sale said this situation is in line with the national trend. Raetihi's sale for the 5 and 6 year old ewes were a little up on Fordell' s.
