Waimarino Golf
Thursday 14 March saw the final night of twilight golf. In the team's event run over the summer, it was disappointing to see some team members not completing enough rounds to qualify. First in the teams event: K Crossan, D Blackburn, A Wallace. 2nd: B Henry; V Johns; J Martin; R Callaghan. 3rd: C Heinold; G Whale; P Mowat; S Wallace. 4th: P Goldfinch; F Wise; H Hammond; S Lind. The Hole in One sponsored by Alan and Karen Murdie of Ohakune New World was again a great success and although none were recorded some great shots were made with Andrew Murdie taking the prize. The Carl Heinold Memorial Trophy was won by promising junior Dwayne Marsh with 131 points. Club day On Sunday 17 March had a small field of 32. In the
ladies Jenny Murdie had an outstanding round with 5 1 points. V Johns on 28 finished 2nd and Sarah Lind on 36 taking 3rd. The junior mens division saw club steward Con Heinold produced a superb round with 43 points, with Devon Gray and Alan Murdie on 34 points finishing 2nd and 3rd. In the senior men Hugh Geraghty took 1 st from father Terry, both with 42 points. 3rd was Neil Leitz with Steve Gray on 38 finishing 4th. The course will be closed on Friday 22 March from 1 1am to 3pm due to the Winstones Tournament. Golf pro Martin Andrew will be here on 3 1 March, book your lesson now. The lucky number.was not struck. The Roarer's Mug went to Jenny. Course rating for the day was 66.
