Waimarino Rodeo

I.JYTrt iflRi

The 'Wild West' is back in attendance at the Raetihi Showgrounds this weekend and it has all the ingredients to be better than ever before! With entries from all over New Zealand, including nine riders from the top ten overall rankings (the tenth being

out with injury) and several competitors from Canada it looks like the standards will be high. The committee this year have also 'hired' professionallybred rodeo bulls. continuing Rodeo in New Zealand, celebrating their 46th year. The committee are looking forward to the competitions in the year 2000, being both their 50th year and also having the possiblity of hosting the National Finals, as part of their celebrations. Events Events this year include the Saddle Bronc, Steer Wrestling, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Barrel Racing and several bare back events. Children's events are set to be held over the main lunch

period on Sunday and include both the Calf Ride and the Sheep Undecorating contests. Local entries are welcome for all these events, but there may only be limited late entries available on the

day, so if you have any queries about entering any of the events, contact the secretary Jeni Wiggins on 385 4197 or president lan Healy on 385 8202.
