Let's welcome, the all new... RAETIHI CALTEX STAT

ON

A special opening 'Gala' has been planned for the official opening of the remodelled Caltex Station in Raetihi this Saturday. It has taken a 'good few years of planning' and actual construction work which started back in September 1 995 to arrive at the new modern station. It was originally hoped that the work could have been done at the same time as the construction of the 24 hour Truck Stop, built back in November 1 993. The opening gala day will have something for everyone and will begin with a Karaike or blessing at the site at 6.30am with the remaining body of

the celebrations, up to around midday, consisting of discounted petrol & diesel, a Country & Western Band, a 'Jumping Castle' for the kids, sausage sizzle, spot prizes and other give-aways plus a chance to win a trip for two to the Neil Diamond concert being held in Auckland later in April. The station, which has been under the Caltex banner since around 1 936, when the Texas Oil Company

and California Oil merged, has undergone a complete remodelling. The original office and shop being pulled down and replaced with a much larger modern store with an increased range of car accessories and refreshment items. The additions to date are not the end of the new services planned for the station. As a Caltex Oil distributor, Raetihi Caltex are able to supply oils at wholesale prices in

bulk to any contractors, farmers or anyone who needs it, saving both time and money. There will also be a new 24 hour service available when the existing Caltex Cardpay system is upgraded to take the general EFTPOS cards now held my most people. Station owner, Ken Summerhays, extends the invitation to attend the celebrations to everyone, and simply hopes for a fine day!
