Blaze of colour for dahlia show
Entries were down a little for this year's Ohakune Garden Club Dahlia Show, held at the Lions Den in Arawa Street on Saturday. About 310 entries were received, down from 360 last year. Once again Waimarino wind and rain worked against the local dahlia growers but there was still a good show for the public in the afternoon following the judging, carried out by Lynley Graham and Dawn Harper. New varieties of dahlias, far removed from the traditional look, have started to make an entry, with a small selection on show. Results: Champion bloom, John Hibbard.
