Small yarding for Raetihi ewe & lamb sale
Raetihi' s ewe and lamb fair saw a small yarding with few buyers at last week's Thursday sale. However, almost all ewes and lambs presented for sale fetched reasonable prices when considering the recent regional and national trends, which are currently low. Prices were: 2/th ewes from $26.70, to around $32 (Steve and Jo Mersons, from Orautoha); Mixed ages ewes fetched from $24.20 and $27.70; Five and six year-old ewes, $21 to $25; Ram lambs from M and N Williams' property from the Ruatiti realised $25.75 and lambs from Pakahi sold for $28.25 ; Wether lambs ranged from $ 14.70 to $24; Small lambs and some male lambs were down, with prices ranging from $8.50 to $15.70. There were about 30 cattle presented for sale last week. Bullocks fetched from $400 to $490; 15-month steers from $260 to $290; 18-month steers $350; 18-month heifers $160 to $250. Once again, prices compare with those from recent saies in both Wanganui and Feilding.
