Raetihi sale realises good prices
There were good prices realised at the recent aged-ewe sale, held in Raetihi Thursday, 1 February, according to both auctioneers and farmers alike. Buyers came from Waipukurau, Feilding, Taihape, Te Kuiti, Taupo, Taumarunui, Stratford, Marton and Wanganui. Two-tooths fetched from $34 to about $44 for middle of the range and $45 to $52 for some well-woolled Romneys. Top price was to B Lynch's property 'Omanga Farm', $61.50. Five year ewes sold for $30, $34, $35.60 and $36.10 with the top price of $37 going to L E Fetzer of Ohakune. Others of mixed age, four and six years reached prices ranging from $22.20 to $37.10. Some wether lambs and male lambs sold for between $22.10 and $27. B J and Z E Chambers had 1 2 Suffolk Rams for sale and prices for these ranged from $80 to $155. Romney Rams went for around $125. A supplementary ewe and lamb sale is to be held on 15 February.
