No parking

A new no-parking zone is to be created in Ohakune and an existing one formalised. An area opposite the Powderhorn Chateau in Mangawhero Terrace is created and an existing zone in Clyde Street on a bend between Arawa and Miro streets is added to the schedule. Cars parked in both areas restrict the view for motorists, and at the Mangawhero Terrace site, parking on both sides of the road effectively reduces it to one-way traffic. Although the restriction at the Junction would see the elimination of eight car parks while parking in the area is in short supply, a new car park for 3540 cars is to be built there by May 1996, said council officer Nicole Middleton.
