• Juveniles have admitted to holiday burglaries of the Greedy Cat Cafe, the Army Museum, Waiouru Bookshop and Split Enz Hair Design. Youth aid are dealing with them, Waiouru police said. • A man was arrested for assaulting a female just prior to Christmas and is due to appear in court at the end of this month. • On 22 December three brothers were arrested as a result of a domestic incident in the Waiouru township. Charges ranged from assaulting a female, threatening to kill, intentional damage and obstructing the police in their duties. The men were not local. • W aiouru police attended a fatal motor vehicle accident on 26 December. A male passenger in the car died at the scene when the vehicle he was travelling in crashed into warning bells at the railway crossing south of Waiouru. Five other motor vehicle accidents were attended over the December/January period, none of them too serious, Waiouru police said. • Residents should be aware of a number of recent thefts. Clothing was stolen from a garage in Weir Terrace, a hunting spotlight and knife were stolen from a garage in Brooke Street and two Oregon chainsaws, a splitting axe, garden hose and garden implements were stolen from Ballance Road after a padlock to a garden shed was forced. • The Waiouru Golf Club was broken into but nothing was taken after the alarm being activated. • About $360 was reported stolen from a house in Keningston Street. • Waiouru police processed three drunken drivers over the December/January period. The three were locals. • A person responsible for a series of recent taggings around the Waiouru community has been identified and is being dealt with by police. • Found: A bone necklace in Queree Dri ve in December; A Sega game next to the BP service station, also in December; Three rolls of plastic hot water piping and one roll of Cobraflex; An Olympus camera." • Three vehicles were broken into at the Waipakahi Stream carpark early in December with windows being smashed and a small amount of property being taken.
