Roses bloomed in Raetihi on market day

The Waimarino Club was again the venue for the Raetihi Rose Show, held on Saturday 16 December — Raetihi' s annual Christmas Market Day. Marie Martin of Raetihi won the champion bloom with her entry in the A class section, described as a 'bloom fully open'. There were a large number of entries with some coming from Marton and the Wanganui area. Results: Roses class Al. bloom decorative: 1 L Graham; 2 G Buckland; 3 G Buckland. Class A2 bloom exhibition: 1 K Journeaux; 2 C Bowater. Class A3 Bloom fully open: 1 M Martin; 2 D Martin. Class A4 Bloom decorative 3 blooms: 1 M Warren; 2 C Brown. 3 fully open blooms - one stem, or 3 blooms - in 3 vases - any variety: 1 C Brown; 2 P Phillips. Class A5 3 blooms fully open: 1 P Phillips; 2 P Phillips. Class A7 1 stem 4 blooms ormore fully open: 1 G Buckland; 2 G Buckland; 3 G Buckland. Class A8 1 stem not more than 3 blooms: 1 G Buckland; 2 C Bowater; 3 D Martin. A9 old fashioned rose one spray: 1 B Frost; 2 D Martin; 3 C O'Neil. Al 1

Aside from roses in the show, there was a cut flower section; shrubs and trees; container plants and pot plants.
