Crater Lake great sight

Ruapehu ' s eruption has had positive and negative effects on tourism in the region. Many people are drawn to the area to see an active volcano. But some accommodation houses report summer cancellations following the huge medi a hy pe over the eruption. Pictured is the crater area as at 8.30am, Tuesday 1 9 December as taken by Jarrod Coburn on a test flight by scenic flights operator Ian Heappey. A small lake has re-formed in the base of the crater and the outline of the previous Crater Lake is evident, circling from the old outlet at middle right of the picture to the edge of the glacier below the Dome bottom left.
