Waiouru doctor rumours scotched
Rumours about the Waiouru civilian surgery should be disregarded according to 4th Medical Company practice manager major Judith Telford. "Nothing is happening with the civilian surgery. It's status quo at present," she said. Plans are in the pipeline for possible privatisation of the surgery, but until something is in writing Maj Telford said she wasn't prepared to comment further. Both Doctors Barklies and Lombard are on a sport and medicine course and are due to return on Friday, she said. Commanding officer of 4th Logistics Regiment Lieutenant Col Geoff Cain told the Bulletin that discussions are going to be held about 4 Med Coy allowing the civilian surgery to be run as a private practice. "The bottom line is to reassure everybody that we are going to have doctors here, not like a couple of years ago when we didn't have a doctor," Lt Col Cain said. He said he will notify the Bulletin when an outcome to discussions is known.
