In with a chance for horse title

By

Teki

Three locals riders competed at the Bay of Plenty dressage championships at T auranga on the weekend of 1 8 and 19 November. Christine Reynolds with her mount, My Warrior, (medium grade), Bernice Frost with her new horse, Solveigh, and Nicola Tebay, with her new horse, Bobby Bear, were all starters. On Saturday My Warrior was a bit above himself and was unplaced. However, Sunday morning he was in top form and won the Horse of the Y ear qualifier against some tough competition. In the afternoon under the watchful eye of judge Errol O'Brien, My Warrior and Christine produced a polished performance, to wiri the champion hack, medium grade, once again qualifying for the Horse of the Year competitions. Competitors came from, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Solveigh completed a good test on the Saturday, and gained 65 per cent in the first round, but competition was too tough for him and this resulted in a 4th. The other tests were not quite as good, but he qualified for the preliminary championships and out of 50 competitors, was placed 10th.

Nicola and her mount Bobby Bear were unplaced, but as this was Nicola' s first event, the competition gave her much in the way of experience.
