Student needs home from home
A German student wants to borrow a Waimarino family for a year so he can attend Ruapehu College. Sebastian Radau is an exchange student who hopes to come here, through the New Zealand Institute of International Understanding which, with the help of the Ministry of Education, aims to promote international understanding through overseas student exchanges. But before he can get a visa he needs a family or families who are willing to put him up during 1996. Institute representative Pheola Robertson said he is interested in outdoor adventure, life style, cycling and sports. Ruapehu College teacher Kai Hagener has more details about the project and about Sebastian. Students, parents and host families receive extensive preparatory material, said Mrs Robertson. "Students and families can benefit from belonging to an 'international family'," she added.
