"Time to move on"
After six years with the Department of Conservaion Karen Grimwade is eaving to complete a bach;lors degree in history. Karen has spent four of hose six years as a conser-
vation officer at the Ohakune field centre where she has been in charge of picnic areas at campsites, historic site management, public safety/fire management, the upgrading of tracks with Taskforce Green, the summer nature programme, conservation awareness and the new displays project at the field centre. Currently Karen is half way through her degree which she has done extramurally through Massey. She says she will either attend Massey or Auckland University but will still remain an Ohakune resident. Until the academic year starts inFebruary Karen will theoretically be on holiday as she is going to fit in some contract jobs for DoC. This will be the first time in six years that Karen will be able to enjoy Christmas with her family, instead of working, which is something she is really ldoking forward too. Karen says DoC is a wonderful place to work and she has enjoyed working with some really dedicated people. "But it is time for a change", she says.
