Big win for men's interclub squash

The Waimarino Squash club turned out some champion winners recently when five of the best of C grade and under won the interclub finals in Wanganui. To get there however, the guys had some tough competition in this district against Ohakune and Turangi. Within their own area the finals were won by the slimmest of margins — one point. Craig Munroe, Doug Sattler, James Renata, Robert Harris and Robert Brown made up the team. However, they are

quick to point out that the reserves of Adam Perkins, Jan Healy, John Mcllroy and Syd Mott were right behind them and had to play some of the games when they were not available. James Renata said, "if it wasn't for our reserves, we wouldn' t have made it. It is 10 years since Raetihi men's teams have won an interclub final. They played Taranaki representative team Hawera and won, 5-0. They then went onto play the Park Royal Palmerston North team and won that final 3-0.
