Rest home trust to survey interest
The establishment of a rest home for the Waimarino is looking the most promising it has since the project started, trust chairman Bob Peck said last week. He said both the Central Regional Health Authority and Good Health Wanganui have supported a survey of people interested in making use of such a facility and that an application from the Waimarino Rest Home Trust has been sent to the General Regional Health Authority for a tradi-
tional grant. Such a grant will provide the first step in the process whereby the rest home trust will become a provider of services for the elderly in the Waimarino. Mr Peck said a feasibility study would follow the transitional grant and then the rest home trust would make an application for capital funding for the erection of a rest home in the Waimarino. Much of the information concerning this process was made available during the public meeting con-
ducted by the RHA in Raetihi, 12 October. He said the rest home would probably be established behind the new Waimarino Rural Health Centre, with which the home would share facilities. It was also possible the rest home could contract to provide such services as meals on wheels. To fulfil the necessary requirements, the Rest Home trust has to conduct a feasibility study concerning the number of persons in the area (and
outside of the area) who would be interested in becoming residents within a new Rest Home, or from caregivers whose relatives would benefit from local residential care. 'To that end, through the columns of this newspaper, we would request that interest persons fill in the attached form," asks Mr Peck. "It is absolutely essential that numbers be indicated as this project is based solely upon need and potential use," said Mr Peck. (See survey coupon, Page 2)
