LETTER
Crystal deposits • I wonder if the new council might early one morning at sunrise, drive east along Thames St and then consider renaming the street "Crystal Night Street". The entire surface through the junction is covered with small particles ofbroken glass, I would guess not unlike the streets of some German cities after the progress of the National Socialists. I would suggest that, although at least one establishment does make some honest endeavour to clean up the street after their patrons, a reasonable deposit be imposed on all beverage glass containers. Throughout our borough or alternatively the new plant centre be sold to provide sufficient funds to provide adequate cleaning of all our streets or even, shock horror, enough to seal the pot holed gravel extension Thames - Rimu St or several other benefits to a majority of ratepayers.
