Fireworks
Ruapehu District Council' s dangerous goods inspector, Allan Low, reminds all fireworks retailers that the public display and sale of fireworks is confined to the 10-day period, 27 October to midnight 5 November. "Fireworks may only be sold to persons over the age of 14 years and all retail display s of the product must be stored in a closed container covered by glass or other incombustible mate.rial protected from direct rays of the sun," he said. "The public are asked to ensure that the instructions for use printed on fireworks are closely followed as even the most innocuous looking firework can be dangerous in certain circumstances — they are after all explosives," he said.
