Voter turn-out disappoints Despite radio advertising, promotional leaflets and there being district wide issues, the number of voters who turned out for the local body elections "was a bit disappointing," said the Ruapehu District Council returning officer Chris Ryan. The overall turnout of 55 percent was the same as previous years. The turnout for the areas within the Ruapehu district was as follows: Ohura 59 percent, Taumarunui 60 percent, National Park 50 percent, and W aimarino 50 percent.
