WAIOURU POLICE FILE

• An arrest has been made after a Waiouru soldier sustained serious head injuries during a fight involving two groups of men outside the Oasis Hotel on 6 October. The injured soldier was taken by ambulance to Palmerston North hospital and later transferred to Wellington Hospital. A 26 year old man has been charged with the assault and was to appear in the W anganui District Court • On 5 October at 5.45 pm two vehicles collided four kilometres south of Waiouru when one vehicle following behind another failed to slow down and rear ended the front vehicle. On 6 October at 4.40pm a lady lost control on the Ohakune Hill one kilometre out of Waiouru and crashed into

the bank. She sustained minor abrasions and lacerations, but the car was a write off. Both drivers received wamings, but will not be prosecuted police said.

• On 1 October two local drivers were processed for drinking and driving. On that same day a 56 year old man was found to be highly intoxicated when stopped on the Desert Road and will be prosecuted.
